How Manitoba Is Helping

New Journey Housing, a Winnipeg-based agency, assists newcomers, including Ukrainians, in finding suitable housing options.

The agency provides resources and support to help newcomers with renting or purchasing a home, and managing their finances. New Journey Housing offers a range of services that includes helping newcomers locate housing, providing education on housing-related issues to landlords, caretakers, and the public, connecting landlords with tenants, guiding newcomers and landlords throughout the rental process, partnering with other housing initiatives and supportive agencies to facilitate settlement of newcomers in Manitoba, and advocating on behalf of newcomers.

To obtain information on housing or for offers from landlords or others with rental properties, please contact New Journey Housing at 204-942-2238 or visit their location at 200-305 Broadway in Winnipeg, or book an appointment.

The most common and easiest way to find housing is through the private market. Private market websites are an easy way to filter and search for homes throughout the province. Some good links to use include:

Healthcare

Finding a family doctor in Manitoba can be a daunting task, but there are resources available to help. The province has implemented several initiatives to improve access to primary care, including the Find a Doctor Manitoba website.

Find a Doctor Manitoba is a comprehensive online database of family physicians and nurse practitioners accepting new patients across the province. The website is regularly updated to ensure that the information is accurate and up-to-date.

To use Find a Doctor Manitoba, simply visit the website and enter your location and any other relevant search criteria, such as language or gender preference. You can then browse the list of physicians and nurse practitioners who are accepting new patients and contact them directly to schedule an appointment.

Another useful resource is the Health Care Connect program, which helps people who are without a family doctor to find one. The program works by matching patients with a family physician or nurse practitioner who is accepting new patients in their area.

To access Health Care Connect, simply call the toll-free number or visit the website to register. Once registered, you will be contacted by a Health Care Connect representative who will help you find a suitable healthcare provider.

In addition to these resources, many clinics and healthcare facilities in Manitoba have walk-in or same-day appointment options for non-emergency medical care.

Family Doctor Finder (Ukrainian translation) is designed to connect you and your family with a home clinic, providing you with a home base for your health care needs. Register with the program online or by phone: 204-786-7111 (in Winnipeg) OR toll-free 1-866-690-8260; TTY/TDD call 204-774-8618 or Manitoba Relay Services toll-free 1-800-855-0511.
